Pukekura Park Entrance Slope

Pukekura Park Entrance Slope

Pukekura Park, New Plymouth

New Plymouth District Council

2015

The batter face at the Pukekura Park entrance was in very poor condition and badly eroding. This was at the same time as a retaining wall contract. NPDC made the decision to re-face the batter slope to make the face safer and to also improve the look.

Due to the retaining wall contract being on a tight time frame we were given a period of 2 week to establish and remove around 300m3 from the area, also to cut the face to the new design slopes.

A key part of the contract was to have no damage to the road or footpath surface. The area where the excavator was working was sanded and then steel plates placed by Hiab to protect the pavement and footpath surfaces.

The contract was undertaken and completed to a very high finish standard in 1 and a half weeks and handed back to NPDC to allow the retaining wall contract to be undertaken without any delays.
